You’ll travel with me through a WASP childhood in a Seattle suburb, before infidelity exiles my family to Kodiak Island, Alaska; rebuilding a downtown erased by the Good Friday quake. Ten tsunami waves tossed boats uptown and loosened buildings – leaving a blue-collar paradise of work to be done. We grow up surrounded by the crab and fish industries, as our Driver’s Ed uses a working salmon seiner for instruction. Friends and family are lost at sea, while “Mayday!” is the one word, no-one wants to hear.
Adventure carries almost-grown me to the howling wilderness of late-1970’s Los Angeles, where the ocean’s a toy and its starry sky’s upside down and turned into freeways.
